Strong is the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Inclusion for UNMC and an Associate Professor and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Department of Psychiatry. She was the pre-clinical psychiatry director for over 10 years and continues to advise, mentor and serve students as the faculty advisor for an inclusive campus-wide student group. She established her career caring for patients with a variety of severe emotional health conditions serving on the Assertive Community Treatment Team and serving at the Charles Drew Health Center since 2009. She has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for more than 25 years.

North High offers a special curriculum and expanded resources for students choosing to study Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. For the past two decades, the Omaha North High School Foundation has contributed funds and resources to support the students who have chosen these pathways of learning and the teachers who light their way.
